Who this policy covers
This Privacy Policy describes how the operator of Lowlights of the Week handles information through lowlightsoftheweek.com, the app, and related Discord features. Contact info@lowlightsoftheweek.com with privacy questions or requests. This policy covers our Service; external websites and integrations also have their own privacy policies.
Information you provide
We process account information such as your email address, username, avatar, and authentication details. If you use Discord, we receive information you authorize, including your Discord identifier, username, email, avatar, and relevant server information. We also process squad membership and roles, invitations and invitee email addresses, submitted lowlights, notes, evidence links and uploads, votes, settings, and recap content. Information about you may be submitted by another squad member.
Technical and billing information
The Service and infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, request and error logs, timestamps, and security events to deliver and protect the Service. Stripe processes checkout and payment details. Our app stores billing references such as customer and subscription identifiers and subscription status; it does not store full payment-card numbers. If you contact us, we receive the information you include in your message.
Why we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts, manage squads and invitations, show cases and standings, record votes, deliver service emails and weekly recaps, provide enabled Discord features, process subscriptions, maintain security, diagnose problems, answer requests, and meet legal obligations. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing depends on providing the requested service, legitimate interests such as security and service administration, consent where required, or legal obligations.
Who can see your information
Squad members can see shared cases, evidence, votes or voting results, player profiles, and standings as the relevant feature permits. Player discovery can expose your name and avatar to other signed-in users; you can turn off discoverability in your profile. Administrators can enable public leaderboard sharing, which can expose player names, avatars, and standings beyond the squad. Uploaded avatars and evidence are delivered through CDN URLs; anyone who obtains a file URL may be able to access it. Emails, Discord posts, screenshots, and downloads can persist outside the Service.
Service providers and optional AI
We use providers to operate the Service, including Render for web hosting, Convex for backend data and authentication services, Bunny for uploaded-file storage and delivery, Resend for email delivery, Stripe for payments, and Discord when you use its integration. Google Fonts receives browser requests when fonts load. When the optional AI recap feature runs, incident descriptions, notes, context names, and vote counts are sent to Anthropic to select and summarize a lowlight. The app does not deliberately include account names, email addresses, or evidence URLs in that AI request, but personal information written into free-text notes can be included. Avoid putting sensitive information in those fields.
Other disclosures
Information may be disclosed when necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations, address fraud or abuse, protect users and the Service, or support a business transfer subject to appropriate protections. The current app does not include advertising networks or mechanisms to sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use this policy to authorize unrelated marketing uses of squad content.
Cookies and local storage
Authentication uses session cookies and related storage. Browser local storage is used for cached profile information, preferences, and demo data. These support sign-in and app behavior. You can clear cookies and local storage through your browser, although doing so may sign you out or reset settings. The current app does not include a third-party advertising or analytics tracker; hosting, email, authentication, and other providers may still process operational data.
How long information remains
Uploaded evidence on Free is scheduled for removal after 30 days. Paid-plan evidence is retained while the plan remains active; a downgrade makes older files eligible for cleanup. Deletion jobs can take time and failures may require retries. This policy does not automatically delete case records, votes, avatars, email-delivery records, or externally hosted evidence after 30 days. Other account and service records remain as needed to run the Service and address requests, disputes, security, and legal obligations. Copies already received by others, provider backups, and required billing records may remain after a request. Contact us to discuss the information you want removed.
Your choices and requests
You can update your profile and discovery setting in the app; squad administrators control squad sharing and recap settings. Contact info@lowlightsoftheweek.com to request access, correction, a copy, deletion, or account closure, or to object to or restrict processing where applicable. We may need to verify your identity and clarify the scope. Rights, exceptions, and response requirements depend on your location. Where applicable, you may withdraw consent for processing based on consent and complain to your local data-protection authority. There is currently no self-service account deletion control.
Security, locations, and children
We use authentication, access checks, and other technical measures to protect information, but no system can guarantee complete security. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries with different data-protection rules; applicable legal requirements govern such processing. The Service is not intended for children under 13 or anyone below the minimum age required where they live. If you believe a child has supplied information in violation of that rule, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Updates and contact
We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. We will provide notice of material changes through the Service or another appropriate channel when required. Privacy requests and questions can be sent to info@lowlightsoftheweek.com.
